It is with so much gratitude and appreciation for the amazing staff at WOW that I share this review with all prospective brides and grooms. When we began our search for a venue, we had an image in our mind of what we both wanted. We wanted a place that felt unique and that had simple understated elegance. We weren’t looking for an ornately decorated ballroom and we knew that we didn't want to get married at the typical “wedding factory” type of venue.

After visiting many different venues, we became discouraged that we would not be able to find a place that would capture that rustic, elegant feel that we had hoped for, for a reasonable price. Our luck took an enormous turn when we stumbled upon WOW online and decided to take a trip to visit with Scott, the Event Manager. From the moment we met Scott, we knew that we had found a genuine, talented, and passionate professional who would make our wedding planning experience enjoyable and stress-free. Scott brought us on a tour of the facility and grounds and he was enthusiastic and attentive in answering all of our questions.

During our tour, we were also so impressed by the head chef who came out of the kitchen to shake our hands and say hello. Between the genuine nature and warmth of the staff and the beautiful facility, we were sold immediately. All of our interactions and communications leading up to the wedding were wonderful.

Scott and his staff were on top of every last detail. Brides and grooms want to find vendors that make the wedding planning fun, enjoyable, and stress-free. Because we knew that we were in such good hands, we did not worry once about a single detail. Our actual wedding day was remarkable in every way. It was so much more than we both could have ever hoped for.

We felt extremely taken care of all day long thanks to the wonderful staff at WOW. Michele, Scott’s assistant, was so kind and accommodating to us when we were getting ready and she went above and beyond to make sure that everything was just right. Jim, the amazing maître-d, is such a sweet man and he made sure that we were comfortable and happy all day & evening. Our ceremony was scheduled to take place outdoors alongside the beautiful lake; however, the rain clouds rolled in just as all of our guests were arriving.

The crew at WOW worked quickly to move all of the ceremony décor and seating under the tent. My disappointment about the rain quickly vanished when I saw the gorgeous ceremony setup under the tent. Many of our guests commented on how romantic and beautiful the ceremony was, despite the crummy weather. Our reception was phenomenal. Our guests were blown away by the delicious cocktail hour food and the uniqueness of the setting. I had multiple guests share that it was the best cocktail hour food that they’ve ever had at a wedding. I was not surprised when many of our guests commented on how genuine, attentive and thorough the staff was. I was so glad that my guests were able to pick up on that same feeling that we had when we met with the staff. By the end of the experience, we felt like we had gained friends.

My husband and I both agree that we will miss our interactions with the wonderful people at W.O.W., but we are so thrilled for all of the brides and grooms that can have that same experience.

WOW will forever be a source of great happiness for my husband and me!

After 15 years in business here in Millstone Township, we have hosted many business events and corporate meetings.

And we have developed some tips and tools to help New Jersey and New York meeting planners have very enjoyable and successful events:


Depending on the nature of your company event, choose entertainment and table decor that is clever or interesting and designed to promote conversation and bring guests together. Instead of a standard bar, consider a juicing station or an interactive wine-tasting tasting by a local sommelier.


Create seating vignettes that are conducive to conversation by utilizing our sleek and sophisticated lounge furniture. Take advantage of our lakeside patios and set up smaller seating arrangements for small group socializing.

Guest Identification:

Depending on the nature and formality of the event, you may wish to ID guests (who often don't know each other face-to-face but only through email). Try to be a little creative here, if tags are needed. In addition to the guest's name, include an interesting piece of information about each person that can get people talking. Perhaps color code name IDs by department or branch to help identify each other.

Take Aways:

It's nice to send your attendees home with a token that reflects the event. Take time to choose a gift that is thoughtful and pertinent. If participants are traveling a long distance, perhaps offer a bag with a bottle of water, piece of fruit and a light snack for the ride. If it's a corporate event, be sure to order your takeaway items featuring any logo well in advance to avoid last minute stress.


Corporate event planners in New Jersey and New York are increasingly asking for healthy fare that is less carbohydrate-laden and more focused on fresh and healthy offerings.

But make no mistake, company special events still need to offer plenty of desserts and sweet treats. The dessert trays or bar is very, very important. Not to worry! Our Windows bakers have many delicious selections for you to choose from (or you can just include them all!).

Secrets From Our Private Bridal Suite
- Looking great on your big day is all about preparation

Our popular bridal / host suite here at Windows on the Water offers the guest/s of honor, close friends and family a private retreat to refresh and take a break from all the festivities. When our staff stops in to offer assistance or deliver a platter of fresh fruit or cold beverages, our clients often talk about the importance of taking time to prepare your wardrobe and accessories in advance so you look and feel your best once the Big Day finally arrives.

We thought our readers might benefit from some personal pre-event tips that will have you looking and feeling cool, calm, comfortable ─ and strikingly gorgeous!

The Shoes
When you make an entrance, be sure that you're strong and confident starting from your feet. A week or so before the event, start wearing your party shoes around the house for about 30 minutes at a time. Slip on some think socks to help soften and stretch the leather to the contours of your feet. If they hurt at all, you'll have plenty of time to buy insoles. You can also practice walking around and dancing to make sure you're totally confident in your heels. Make sure the bottoms of your shoes have anti-sliding pads, also.

(Our dance floor here at Windows on the Water is parquet wood but some floors are tile or another material that can become slippery).

The Outfit

Even if you bought your dress or wedding gown far in advance, try everything on again as your special occasion nears to be sure no alternations are necessary. You may also notice that the clutch that looked amazing in the store just isn't cutting it, or the earrings you bought don't really work with your new haircut. Pick up any last minute accessories you need so you're not scrambling (and stressed) on the big day.

Hair & Make-Up
If you're trying out a new hairstyle or make-up, practice ahead of time. Think about the time and location of the event and make sure your look will still dazzle in that type of lighting. Finally, when you're doing the test-run of your hair and make-up, keep an eye on the clock so you know exactly how much time you'll need.

Keep in mind that all this planning will also help offset pre-party stress. Plan and practice your look ahead of time, and you'll have nothing to worry about! If it is easier for you, feel free to drop off your beauty essentials with us before your event so it's one less thing you need to bring on the day of your occasion.

Trendy Color Combos to Make Your Winter Wedding Shine

Although summer is the peak time of the year for weddings, many soon-to-be-newlyweds take the opposite approach and choose to marry during the winter months. Festive reds and greens, sparkling snowflakes, and lush evergreens are beautiful additions to holiday weddings, but many couples going with some less-traditional options. Here are some trendy color combinations for the upcoming 2013-2014 wedding season that are sure to make your special day stand out.

Blue is the color of the season. From the palest ice blue to the deepest midnight, blues of all shades and hues are making a statement this winter. This color is such a popular choice because of its versatility. Depending on the specific shade of blue you choose and the palette of other colors you pair it with, you can create a color theme that will perfectly compliment the style and ambiance of your wedding.

The New York Times reports that the attention to the food at the wedding is now in direct competition with the focus on the bride! Really? It's a fact that we've seen here at Windows over the past few years. As we all become more careful and conscientious about what we eat, this new lifestyle has carried over into cuisine planning for special events, including weddings. People want to eat "clean," minimally processed foods which are delicious but will not lead to a "food hangover" the next day.To be honest, it is an exciting time for us in the event planning industry. There is a much larger diversity of offerings and menus (vegan, organic, Kosher) leaning "lighter' but still luxurious (5+ courses are not unusual). When it comes to planning a Bar/Bat mitzvah celebration, every family has their own vision for their big event. Whatever your vision is, consider these current trends to help you throw a unique party that your guests will rave about for years to come…

Keep it personal

Choosing a theme for your Bar/Bat Mitzvah is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. Not only does it create the “look and feel” of the event, but it ties the whole party together. I also advise clients to focus on the child’s hobbies or passions─a favorite sport, an artistic endeavor, dancing, skateboarding, the Yankees, and so on. Does your child have a favorite color? Focusing on a certain color or group of colors has become a theme in itself. To add a more personal sentiment, try to incorporate your child’s name in the theme. Use their initials to create a personalized logo, which can be put on everything from the invitations and centerpieces to the cake, cookies and party favors. Remember, the party is all about your child. While their desire to have a Monte Python-themed mitzvah might not be your choice, it is their party.

Keep it casual

Today, more and more people are veering away from the traditional formal affair and opting for a more informal party atmosphere. Low lighting paired with lounge seating (see our furniture shown here) can create a fun, casual setting. Replacing chairs with couches and ottomans and dinner tables with cocktail tables will reinforce the cool nightclub feel, which is sure to appeal to the teenage crowd.

Keep it fun

To keep your guests on the dance floor, consider pairing a DJ with a few live musicians. By combining the energy and excitement of live music with the vast song selection that the DJ provides, you are sure to find the perfect tune for every moment. In addition, using plasma screens to display live footage from the dance floor and candid photos of the guests will keep the party more interactive and fun.

Our Spring Bridal and Special Event Show on May 16 was a great success! On a long-awaited picture-perfect spring evening, we welcomed more than 300 guests to our Sold Out event. It was great to see so many new faces as brides and grooms, their friends and several parents mingled, sampled hors d'oeuvres, entrees, side dishes and delectable desserts, while touring Windows on the Water.

From make-up artists to photographers, hoteliers, and event planners, our exhibitors presented an impressive array of the highest quality vendors in New Jersey. We were honored to have you with us.

Why attending a bridal show is well worth your time

Most engaged couples dream about a picture perfect wedding, but few realize the significant amount of work it entails. Your wedding is supposed to be the happiest day of your life, but for many, the planning can be stressful and overwhelming. One easy way to lessen the laundry list of decisions and responsibilities is to attend a high quality bridal show. They can save you a significant amount of time ─ and money. While you might not be able to plan your entire wedding during one visit to a bridal show, it is a great place to start.

Cost-saving benefits

Besides receiving helpful planning guides and ideas from a variety of entertainers, salons, photographers, bakeries, and florists, bridal shows give you a chance to meet potential vendors in person and see (or taste) a sample of what they have to offer. And your wallet may benefit as well. Not only can you easily compare prices among vendors, but many frequently offer ‘show specials' and discounts exclusively for attendees. Feel you can negotiate an even better deal? When you are face-to-face with a potential vendor, it can be easier to obtain an even larger discount if you are purchasing in large volume or need a service on an off-peak day or season, for example.

Even if you are not ready to sign contracts at the show, you are sure to find value in attending a bridal show. You will have several chances to win some great prizes, like a basket of goodies or a free limo rental. Even if you are not a raffle winner, you’ll leave feeling like one since you will take home samples, free giveaways and great ideas that you might be able to incorporate into your own wedding. And don’t forget to bring your camera to snap images of things you like.

Choosing your bridal party was probably a no-brainer for you. It most likely includes your sister, sister-in-law or other longtime friends. Choosing their dresses, on the other hand, can be a bit more stressful if you don't know what to look for. Bridesmaid dresses come in all shapes and sizes ─ just like your bridesmaids. Tall and short, thin and not so thin, fair and dark skinned, how do you find that one dress that will look perfect on all of them?

The good news is that you don't have to match one dress to several different women. Of course you want all the girls to look beautiful, but at the same time you need to keep the focus on you and your magnificent wedding gown. So how do you pick a bridesmaid dress that will keep you in the spotlight and everyone else happy and looking great?

Dealing with many different body types? Choosing different style dresses in the same color and fabric will do the trick. Try to find a color that works for all the girls' complexions. If that is too difficult, consider different hues of the same color. As long as all the dresses are similar in length it will tie everything together. Also, choose a comfortable dress. Whether you select a style that is off the shoulder, strapless or halter keep in mind that a comfortable bridesmaid is a happy bridesmaid.

Most importantly, remember that being a bridesmaid is not cheap. Look for an elegant dress that is not too pricey and can be reused or easily altered for future special occasions. Your bridesmaids will thank you for it.

Your First Dance...

Finding the perfect music for your first dance as a married couple

You've selected a perfect wedding location (which we hope is Windows on the Water) and menu your dream gown, and the ultimate floral arrangements that highlight your wedding colors and theme. Now you just have to pick the perfect song for your first dance as a newly married couple. Choosing the right song can be a daunting task which can require significant negotiation with your fiancé. You need to find a song that is romantic but also speaks to your present and long future ahead. How do you find the ideal music that tells the story of your relationship with the love of your life? There are hundreds of classic hits to choose from, such as Nat King Cole's "Unforgettable" or Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World." These are timeless songs with beautiful lyrics. But they have also been played so often in weddings that they have become a bit overused. If you are looking for a song that is a little less traditional then take a look at these playlists below. Whether you and your future spouse are pop music people, rockers, hip hop aficionados or country lovers, you are sure to find a song that suits your style. If you still haven't found the perfect song, take a look at what some celebrities have chosen for their weddings… Finally, if a live band will be performing your first dance song, make sure they are familiar with the music and have ample time to rehearse it before your big day.

Their ceremony was held at the beautiful St. Joseph's Church in Millstone Township. As the photographers readied their cameras for post-ceremony candids, the clouds parted and the sun popped out.
